Tex and Virginia Johnson grew up at Fort Missoula in the 1930's. Their father, Lt. and later Brigadier General Walter Johnson, was stationed at the Fort with the Fourth Infantry regiment at that time. During World War II, he commanded U.S. troops in the crucial St. Lo sector of France during the 1944 Normandy campaign. Tex and Virginia still live in Montana, and in 2005 donated copies of these Brownie camera shots they took during their childhood at Fort Missoula.
