The letterhead is from:
"Office of County Clerk and Recorder
Jefferson County
Chas. E. Stevens
Boulder, Mont."
The upper left hand reads, "Lith Pioneer Press Co.St Paul."
Dated Aug 27th 1886. This appears to be the first page of a letter to T. H. Kleinschmidt Esq of Helena Mont. It reads:
"Dear Sir
Replying to
your favor 26th inst this day at hand contents noted would say name mentioned is 'J H Richart JP'. I am acquainted with the JP of that precinct and signature. I must say that I have never seen a signature of his as above as he has always signed 'John Ritchart Justice of the Peace' You see the name is not spelled the same and I donot [sic] think he has any middle name - While I do not say it is a forgery I do say it seems"
[The remainder of the letter is not part of the collection as far as I know. -Ed.]
