This is a criminal complaint and arrest warrant against Moses Beauchamp in the County of Jefferson, the township of Boulder and the state of Montana. On April 29th 1897, "Hon. D. G. Warner Justice of the Peace" heard that,

"John Davis who, being duly sworn, complains and says: That one Moses Beauchamp did, on or about the 29th of April A. D. 1897 at Bernice in Jefferson County and State of Montana, with force and arms to-wit with a double barrel shotgun threaten to shoot and kill the said John Davis. And that the said Moses Beauchamp then and there had the power to immediately shoot and kill the said Davis - the said Beauchamp being armed with a double barreled shotgun and the said Davis being in range thereof -"
