Dated 6-7-1897. The letter is to A. M. Holter Hdw. Co., of Helena Mont. It reads:
"Gentlemen:-
We send you today by mail a small box of scale from our boilers as per your request. Please send us the compound as soon as possible
Yours Respty [respectfully]"
The signature is stamped "Montana Mineral Land Development Co." Apparently they were seeking a way to remove a build up of impurities in their boilers and needed to supply a sample of the built up 'scale' before the correct additive could be found.
