Letterhead from:

and General Merchandise.
Radersburg, Montana"

Dated Nov. 8, 1883. This letter to E. W. Knight, Esq. accompanied some checks totaling $442.33 and a "promissory note duly signed by W. U.[?] Williams." The third paragraph tells Mr. Knight that he will "soon receive" a draft from Auerbach Finch and Van Slyck for $689.21, and asking that when he receives it a postcard be sent to Mr. Wells. The First National Bank of Helena has stamped the letter Paid, Nov. 10, 1883. Noted at the bottom of the letter is:
"cr [credit] 442 33
chg [charge] 689 71"
[Note there is a difference of 50 cents from what the letter reads.]
