"Amos Buck Mercantile Co.

General Merchandise
Geo. W. Buck, President.
J. Frank Borough, Vice Pres.
Amos Buck, Sec. and Treas.
Stevensville, Mont."
Dated July 15, 1890. This is a personal letter from Amos Buck to his wife, Rosa V. Buck, and "babe," who are staying in Missoula. It reads in part:
"...This afternoon some boys were fishing just above the bridge and one of them Sidney Manning about 18 years old concluded to try swimming so stripped of and jumped in and was drowned. I went down and helped get him out. We found the body in about ten feet of water and very swift currant [sic]...
The house is not done yet but expect it will be finished some time so we can get into it
With much love
I am ever yours
Amos"
