The letterhead is from:
"Truman Hopkins
General Merchandise
Basin, Montana"
The majority of the space on this sheet of paper is dedicated to a description of the charms of the Basin area. The front reads:
"Basin, Montana. Situate [sic] thirty miles northeast of Butte, and forty-three miles southwest of Helena, on the Montana Central branch of the Great Northern, and on the Helena, Boulder Valley and Butte Branch of the Northern Pacific Railroads. Surrounded on all sides by lofty mountains, rich in gold, silver, lead and copper, which only needs capital and well directed labor to show to the world that Basin is one of the richest gold producing camps in the mountain west. Among some of the properties that have been developed may be mentioned that of the Katie, Hope, Obelisk, Eva May, Lone Star, B. B., Deer Lodge, Bullion and many others. For health and pleasure seekers this is one of the most delightful resorts during summer and early fall in the state, and for that matter no more charming or healthful place can be found in the entire west. The Boulder river and its branches are famous for thei trout fishing, while the valleys and mountains surrounding here abound in grouse, sage hens, ducks, elk, deer and smaller game. The Basin Times, a weekly paper, is in a flourishing condition, while other branches of business are well represented doing a safe and profitable trade. But we need outside money to open up our many gold properties. Letters of inquiry will receive a cheerful and prompt reply."
The reverse side is basically a flyer advertising the "Leading Firms of Basin, Montana." including ther bank, grocers, the hotel and "The Basin Times...Published Weekly...$2.50 per year in advance"
