"Mess Bateman & Switzer yours of the 27 at hand am very sorry that I cannot send you some money at present. but if you will be easy with me I will pay you every cent. but at present I can't [dou?] it but in a month I will be able to pay you some but not all I hav [sic] had bad luck this Fall. got some bad checks and some other trobels [sic] but you will not lose a sent [sic] on me if you just giv [sic] me time
