The Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History will debut the exhibit "The Imperial Age: 1890-1917"
"The Imperial Age" covers milestones in US military history between the end of the Indian Wars and the opening of World War I, including the Spanish-American War (1898), the Philippine Insurrection (1898-1902), the Chinese Boxer Rebellion (1900) and the Mexican Punitive Expedition (1916). Period artifacts and media relate the national narrative of these events in combination with Montana's contributions to the era, including the stories of the First Montana Volunteers in the Philippines and Boxer Rebellion participant Colonel Aaron Daggett of Fort Missoula.
The day's keynote address will be delivered by Major General Matt Quinn of the Montana National Guard. A veteran of both Operation Desert Storm and the Iraq War, Gen. Quinn assumed the post of Adjutant General for the Montana National Guard in April 2012.
